Karl is a contemporary figurative painter & draughtsman working in an impressionistic style across acrylic, oil, gouache & pastel mediums.

Drawing and painting is a lifelong passion of his, enjoying the mix of problem solving and exploring creative possibilities it gives him.  His artistic inspiration is drawn from many sources - most recently capturing scenes from travels at home and abroad.  His process often starts with ‘en-plein air’ observational studies to capture the essence of the scene or convey the story he wishes to tell - which is often about contrast of light & shade.

He frequently exhibits in solo & group exhibitions, and his work can be found in private collections in the UK, USA, Canada, Australia & France as well as held in the permanent collection of the Williamson Art Gallery and Museum in the UK.​
